This is me and my first grandchild Kyle L. McDowell
My name is Osa McDowell and I would like to, personally, thank you for your interest in my knives. I'm a full time knife maker. All my knives are handcrafted using nothing but the very best materials. I had been using ATS-34 steel to make my knife blades for the last sixteen years in 2007 I changed to 154 CPM. It has been tested and proven to be an excellent knife steel. I make every knife as if I'm making it for my self because it is a part of me when I'm working on it and not just some strangers who I might not even know. When I was learning to make knives I had a big advantage. I had the two best critics in the world, my Dad and my oldest brother. Even though my brother did not make knives he and my Dad both have keen eyes for details and details are what makes the difference. So when you order a knife from me you do not have to worry about the quality of the knife. It is all there. Do I take pride in my work?
It is not just Pride I take American Pride in my work.
My father, J.B. McDowell, was making knives in Edmond, Oklahoma in the 1980's and in 1989 he taught me how to make knives. At that time I lived in Warwick, Oklahoma. There are a few knives with the Osa McDowell, Warwick, OK stamp on them. In 1991 we moved to Fort Supply, Oklahoma and from 1991 to 1993 they had the Osa McDowell, Fort Supply, OK stamp on them. In 1993 I changed the stamp to McDowell, Fort Supply, OK. In January of 2002 I changed the stamp back to Osa McDowell Fort Supply, Ok.
I also take a lot pride in the knowing that my 5th Great Grandfather was the famous frontiersman Daniel Boone.
I live 13 miles from where I was born and 9 miles from where my Great, great, grandparents homesteaded in Indian territory in the late 1800’s. My family came to America in 1729
